Megan Lynne Young Is Ready To Bring Home The 1st MW Crown!

Miss World Philippines 2013 Megan Lynne Young is overwhelmed with the support she has been receiving from Miss World Philippines (MWP) Organization, that’s why an emotional Megan faced the press on the evening of August 30 at her official send-off party to the Miss World 2013 beauty pageant to be held in Indonesia.

“I’m excited and I’m crying”, says Megan beautifully in her Francis Libiran aqua dress. What set her off into tears is when Ms. Cory Quirino, head of CQ Global Quest and national director of MWP announced that Julia Morley sent an email to her telling that “we crowned a very beautiful Miss World”. Ms. Cory also said that franchise holders from other countries also congratulated her for producing a very beautiful Miss World. “May laban tayo!”, declares Ms. Cory, with conviction.

Tears of Joy.. Megan became emotional during her send off.

Tears of Joy.. Megan became emotional during her send off.

It took Megan about 10 minutes to regain her composure, ‘coz she couldn’t hold back the tears. But the audience didn’t seem to be agitated. It was an unforeseen, appealing moment and we were all ready for Megan until she was okay to talk again.

As she struggled to control her emotions, Megan proceeded to talk…as quoted from Megan:

“I’m so overwhelmed by all the support I am receiving for this pageant. It really means a lot to me. It’s really close to my heart.

“All my friends, all my relatives, all my kababayans, even those who are not really into pageants are rooting for me. They come up to me and congratulate me and tell me, ‘Megan, this is it.’

“There’s so much expectation from me, but I’m gonna work it, I’m gonna wing it, I’m gonna represent the country like anything. I’m gonna prove to them that the Philippines is strong this year. May laban tayo. We’re gonna show them that we’re worth the blue crown.
“It feels so different when you’re representing the country. It’s pressure, happiness and excitement at the same time. It’s such [a] heavy weight on my shoulders because not only is the Philippines watching; the whole world is watching.”

Megan Young, Miss World Philippines 2013 was given a warm Send-off Press Conference at C3 Events Place of Cravings in Greenhills, San Juan, last Friday, August 30. Maegan left for Jakarta, Indonesia on September 3, to compete in the 63rd edition of Miss World, with the global finale to be held on September 28 at Sentul, Indonesia to an estimated 1 Billion audience around the globe watching the live telecast on TV.

This year, a record 128 candidates from all over the world will vie for the crown. Because of its sheer size, Miss World has been established as the largest beauty pageant in the world. It is also considered as the most iconic of all pageants having been the very first global beauty search to be established way back in 1951.

Miss World is the only world beauty title that have not yet won by the Philippines in it’s forty-six years of participation. The closet we have so far are two 1st Runner-up title courtesy of Miss Evangaline Pascual in 1973 and then again in 2011 by Gwendoline Ruais. Other Filipinas who won runner-up honors are Pinky Amabuyok, 4th Runner-up in 1968 and Ruffa Gutierrez, 2nd Runner-up in 1993. Last year’s Miss World Philippines Queenreech Rehman managed to placed in the top 15 semifinalists.

“This year we are quite optimistic and are hopes are high, that a Filipina will finally captured the Miss World Crown, we received a lot of congratulatory messages from other license holder abroad saying that Maegan was truly beautiful and considered as a top bet for the crown, and mind you, these license holders have also their own candidates for the pageant, so we are really delighted that they appreciated the hard work that we do in coming up with a strong and competitive representative.” says CQGC Global Quest Inc. Chairwoman Cory Quirino, the local license holder of Miss World in the Philippines.

With barely two weeks after she won the Miss World Philippines title, Maegan has successfully compressed her workshops, training and charity visits in preparation for her international competition. She even tried to squeeze in a Singkil dance lesson conducted by the world-famous Bayanihan Dance Company for her presentation on the Dance of the World to be shown on the coronation night.

Will she finally bring home the crown?

Will she finally bring home the crown?

“I’ll definitely bring with me, all the hopes and prayers of our countrymen here and abroad for victory and the crown of Miss World, once I left for the competition on Tuesday, September 3. Yes there are pressures, but the show of love, support and unity that all of you have given to me more than compensates the pressures and sacrifices that I’ve made. Thank you so much!” Maegan tearfully exclaims during the emotion-filled despidida press conference.
