Mutya ng Pilipinas is Miss Tourism International 2012 Winner!
What a beautiful year for the Philippines! Twenty two year-old Rizzini Alexis C. Gomez who likes to read, play basketball and swim won the last beauty pageant title in the world for 2012 in Kuala Lumphur, Malaysia last night! She bested 55 other queens from around the world.
Alexis is the second Filipina to win the crown after Miss Tourism International 2000 Maria Esperanza Manzano. Philippines is now the top performing country in Miss Tourism International tally board with 2 crowns and 5 runners up.
Alexis was crowned as Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism 2012 last August in UP Theatre.
According to Alexis.. “One of the reasons that Filipinos are unique is our undying devotion and strong faith in our religion. I would like to show everyone that Filipinos are not only vibrant and fun-loving but we are also the home of skilful, talented and God-fearing people who help bring out the best of what our country can show and offer everyone around the world.” Gomez also believes in the importance of education to promote Philippines’ attractions because it will emphasize the value and importance of preserving the culture and heritage of the country.

Miss Venezuela Marielis Alejandra Castellanos Perez (2nd Runner up)
Miss Paraguay Lourdes Maria Del Carmen Motta Rolon (3rd Runner-Up),
and Miss Malaysia Jun Yong Wan Jun (4th Runner-Up)
Completing the Top 10 semi-finalists were the contestants from China, India, New Zealand, Russia and Thailand. Only 10 beauties made the final cut this year.
The Miss Tourism International is the only pageant that is being held in a New Year’s Eve.. the end of the year and the start of new year. Miss Tourism International started in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia in 1994.
